The Memory of Shadows and Other Folktales from the Northeast by Mijing Gwra Basumatary: Book Review

This review praises Mijing Gwra Basumatary’s The Memory of Shadows and Other Folktales from the Northeast for its vibrant collection of 18 stories rooted in the oral traditions of Northeast India. The book utilizes supernatural elements to explore complex human emotions and critical themes such as nature conservation and social exclusion. While highly recommended, the reviewer cautions parents that some stories may not be entirely suitable for young children.
